It works especially well when one child wants a walk and another has already voted for water. Gary Pirkle Park is an outdoor play stop in Sugar Hill built around a large covered playground and 1. 7 miles of paved, lighted walking trails. The playground sits mostly under a 90-foot solar-powered pavilion, so most of it (aside from the swings) stays shaded and usable in rain or heat, with equipment ranging from a spiderweb climber to bridges, climbing structures, and swings of different styles for a range of ages. The route offers enough adventure to feel special without making the day unnecessarily complicated.
Gold Mine Park

Gold Mine Park is a Sugar Hill Greenway trailhead rather than a traditional playground park. Families will find parking, restrooms and an overlook of Simmons Mine, which operated from the 1800s into the early 1900s. From here, the wooded trail crosses Level Creek on several boardwalks and bridges; families can return toward Cornerstone Park along Level Creek Road or continue south toward Bethany Church.
