PlayTown Suwanee is a 13,000-square-foot inclusive playground in downtown Suwanee, rebuilt as PlayTown Suwanee 2.0 after the original volunteer-built 2004 playground reached its next chapter. The 2023 rebuild drew input from more than 300 local schoolchildren and help from over 1,200 residents, with recycled plastic equal to more than 1 million milk jugs used as the primary building material. For families, the useful part is simple: separate areas for toddlers and older children, a continuous-loop design that helps kids of different abilities stay engaged, a lighted pavilion with wheelchair-accessible picnic tables, public art, restrooms, and enough imaginative structure that leaving may require diplomacy. It feels like a community project because it is one — just with better slides.
