Poole's Mill Park

Cumming, Georgia

The 1901 covered bridge over Settingdown Creek is the postcard, but the smooth rock shoals below it are what fill the parking lot on warm days — an unofficial, unsupervised splash spot, so judge the water yourself and stay close on the slick rocks. On dry land there's a playground, restrooms, picnic tables, and a rentable pavilion, which makes it easy to turn a creek hour into a whole morning.

Big Creek Greenway

Cumming·All Ages·Outdoor·Free

Big Creek Greenway is one long paved outing with several ways in, not a collection of separate parks. The Cumming access at Carolene Way and Alpharetta access points at Kimball Bridge Road and Marconi Drive let families choose a shorter stretch for little legs, strollers, scooters, or bikes. Pick your trailhead before leaving home, pack water and snacks, and remember where you parked—the scenery looks surprisingly similar on the walk back.
